A salad from apples, celery and walnuts was first served at the famous Waldorf Hotel in New York created by Oscar Tschirky around 1893. Our Father "Paul" loved a good Waldorf Salad and I remember helping my Mom prepare this salad when company would come for dinner. It is the perfect appetizer or start to a wintry meal. Composed of celery, apples, walnuts and grapes, dress and mix with a home made mayo, then serve on a bed of fresh bib lettuce. It is a rather dreamy and elegant salad on a Winter day. By the way, Paul's does have ready made Waldorf Salad or it can be ordered. That makes things extra easy, doesn't it?
