Dragon fruit is a beautiful type of cactus that is low in calories and offers numerous nutrients including Vitamin C, phosphorus, calcium, plus fiber and antioxidants.
Step 1 – Cut the Dragon Fruit
Cut straight through the dragon fruit down the middle with a sharp
knife. It will cut easily. Cut all the way through and separate into two pieces.
Step 2 – Separate the Flesh from the Skin
Run a spoon around the circumference of the dragon fruit to separate the flesh from the skin.
Step 3 – Remove Residual Pink Skin
Turn the mound of flesh over, checking for any residual pink skin. Slice this off, as the skin isn’t healthy to ingest.
Step 4 – Serve and Enjoy!
Cubes work well for eating fresh dragon fruit. If desired, return the cubes to the skin to serve or transfer to serving dish.
--► Leftovers can be refrigerated, like any other cut fruit, in a covered container.
