Taylor's Gold pears are in! You may not think much about pears this time of year. Seasonally, they are a fall fruit. These pears are from New Zealand in the southern hemisphere and where it is now the fall heading into winter. Taylor's Gold pears are tender, sweet and very juicy. They look similar to a Comice pear but have a papery/leathery skin which I prefer to peel. Why don't you pick some up and be the judge of that yourself. Allow them to ripen at room temperature, checking the stem end daily. When the flesh yields to gentle pressure they are ready to eat.
